On Friday, 25th April 2025, I went to my banks—Unity Bank and Guarantee Trust Bank—to find out why I could no longer withdraw money either through ATM or mobile banking.
At Unity Bank, the customer care representative told me I would need to bring certain documents to upgrade my account. I wasn’t with the required documents, so I had to plan to come back the following week. The same thing happened at GTBank; without the necessary documents, there was nothing they could do for me.
Since it was almost their closing time, I decided to go home and return the next week.
On my way home, something amazing happened.
As we passed by Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education, I noticed a lady who looked very much like Mercy—the girl I had been searching for months. Although I didn’t see her face clearly, something inside me convinced me it was her.
Immediately, I asked the bus driver to stop, paid for my half trip, and rushed off to confirm.
Mercy was someone I met in December 2024 at Alvan Ikoku when I visited a friend. She was tending to flowers, and her calm beauty captured my heart. We spoke briefly, and she gave me her number. Sadly, when I tried calling her later, it turned out to be a wrong number. I tried again and again, but the number was incorrect. I even returned twice to the spot we met, hoping to find her, but she was nowhere to be seen.
Yet, I kept the faith that somehow, someday, our paths would cross again.
And on this beautiful day, it did.
When I caught up with her, she didn’t recognize me at first. But when I reminded her about the flowers, her face lit up with excitement. She shouted, telling me she had waited for my call and had wondered why I never reached out.

When she checked the number I had, she confirmed it was a wrong one.
This time, she carefully gave me her correct number. I immediately called it, and it rang! Despite the fear that I might lose her again, it all worked out.
Since that day, Mercy and I have been talking, bonding, and slowly building something beautiful together.
Finding her again has been one of the happiest moments of my life, and I am grateful that destiny gave us a second chance.
