The short film Little Heroine was produced by a good friend of mine, Ibekwe Mezie, and directed by me.
The story follows a young girl named Peculiar, who goes around saving people from impending danger. But when she rescues a character named Chikezie, the entire atmosphere of the story shifts dramatically.
What We Went Through to Produce Little Heroine
Before this story came to life as a stunning short film, we went through a series of rigorous challenges.
When I first read the script, I lost interest. I told Mezie I didn’t understand the content or message of the story. He was visibly hurt by my reaction. Although I dismissed the script at first, his disappointment made me reconsider.
Eventually, I took time to restructure the story. After several adjustments, we developed a solid screenplay for the short film.
I played the role of the only male character in the story, keeping my real name—Chikezie.

The film features just three actors: Nnanna Peculiar, Miracle Obimmalu, and myself. We carried out several rehearsals before we even opened the camera. I made sure each actor brought their best to the performance.

It wasn’t easy, but in the end, we captured something truly worthwhile.
Ibekwe Mezie—who acted as the producer, storyteller, and cameraman (we used only one camera)—was thrilled when the final product turned out professional.
Of course, there’s still room for improvement in both the acting and the editing. But so far, we’re proud of how the film came out.
If you haven’t seen Little Heroine, produced by Ibekwe Mezie and directed by Chikezie Nwariwe, you’re missing out. It’s a story worth watching.
